My brother, Matthew, bought me the cube for Christmas 2007. The next day, I decided to learn how to solve it and scrambled it. I solved it the first time ever 4 days later, on December 30, 2007.
The Rubik's Cube has 43,252,003,274,489,856,000 (43 billion billion) possible configurations, only one of which is the solved state.
