Here I find myself joining in with a common theme: The Mass Exodus of Maritimers to Alberta.
In only 10 brief days I will be hopping a plane to Grande Prairie, Alberta.
Chris flies in on Saturday, and then we'll spend the week packing things up. We have the apartment here in Halifax till the end of December (and Eric will still be living here). We'll just move everything into storage when we come home for Christmas.
I don't think the reality of all this has truly sunk in yet. I have only two days left of working at the IWK. Then I guess I'm unemployed until I find something in GP.
Some may think this crazy, but I will actually really miss working in Health Records. It's the longest I've ever worked in one place, and it's the best job I've ever had. I love it. I love the clerical side of things (me being obsessive compulsive and all). Though it's my coworkers that I will miss most of all. True, there are some difficult ones amongst the bunch, but for the most part, I work with some really awesome people.
On Friday, a little farewell party has been organized. A bunch of us are all heading to Mexi's after work for dinner and drinks. It will be a good time, and I am looking forward to it. Then a group of us will be heading downtown later that night for more drinks and dancing. Hey, a girl's got to go out in style.
So, I guess you could say I get to start over. Moving to a new province, finding a new job, meeting new people. It will be an adventure. Oh, and there's the fact that Chris and I own NO furniture...We're starting from SCRATCH...(well, Chris does have an air mattress...)
So here's to adventures and to the unknown.
Here's to it all coming together, or falling apart.
Time will tell.
Stay tuned.
